بداhe appeared فيin حُلّةa robe كالوردlike the rose لوناًin hue
بدا في حُلّة كالورد لوناً
وإنand if أنصفتُI judged fairly قلتُI said كلَونlike the hue of خدهِhis cheek
وإن أنصفتُ قلتُ كلَون خدهِ
He appeared in a robe like the rose in hue;
And, were I fair, I would say: like the hue of his cheek.
يتيهhe struts بطلعةٍwith a countenance منfrom فوقَabove قدٍّa form
يتيه بطلعةٍ من فوقَ قدٍّ
فواand oh! شوقيmy longing لطلعتهِfor his countenance وقدّهand his form
فوا شوقي لطلعتهِ وقدّه
He struts, his countenance crowning his form;
And oh, how I long for his countenance and his form!
