فلاحَ على وجه الفلاحِ سرورهُ

From the daisy garden, its blossoms smiled;

The roses of the meadow smile with joy,

So his joy shone upon the farmer's face.

Lighting the face of the farmer with their glee.

وأقبل محمودٌ وطالع سعدهُ

وأقبل محمودٌ وطالع سعدهُ

تلألأ في أفْق المسرة نورهُ

تلألأ في أفْق المسرة نورهُ

And Mahmoud arrived, and his star of good fortune—

And Mahmoud comes, his good fortune in sight,

Its light sparkled on the horizon of joy.

Its light shimmering on the horizon of joy.

أتى ليلة الأضحى فأضحى بيمنه

أتى ليلة الأضحى فأضحى بيمنه

مباسُمه مفترةٌ وثغورهُ

مباسُمه مفترةٌ وثغورهُ

He came on the eve of Eid al-Adha, and through his auspicious presence,

On the eve of Eid, he made his sacrifice,

His lips and mouths were now parted in smiles.

His smiling mouth and lips opened wide.

وجاء عليًّا وافد البشر سالماً

وجاء عليًّا وافد البشر سالماً

يؤرخه محمود عيدٌ ظهورهُ

يؤرخه محمود عيدٌ ظهورهُ

And the herald of joy came safely to Ali,

And Ali came, humanity's welcome guest,

Its date is marked: 'Mahmoud—his appearance is a feast.'

His coming marked by Mahmoud as the feast's dawn.
