Those clad in the rings of fine mail are led by

One stout of nature, resolute, no trembling coward.

I mean the Messenger, for God has favored him

Above all creation through piety and generosity.

And you had claimed that you would defend your honor,

And Badr's water, you claimed, would not be reached.

Then we came to the water, undaunted by your words,

Until we drank our fill, without stint.

Among us is the Messenger, and among us the truth we follow

Until death, and victory without bounds.

He presses on through terror, riding across what they have traversed,

When armored warriors hold back among the mighty champions.

Faithful and resolute, a blazing flame by whose light one sees,

A full moon that shone upon all the illustrious.

Blessed is he; his form is like the full moon's radiance.

Whatever he said was an irrevocable decree.

Holding fast for protection to an unbroken rope,

Firmly secured, outstretched from among God's ropes.
