لَقَد لَقِيَت قُرَيظَةُ ما عَذاها

لَقَد لَقِيَت قُرَيظَةُ ما عَذاها

وَحَلَّ بِحِصنِها ذُلٌّ ذَليلُ

وَحَلَّ بِحِصنِها ذُلٌّ ذَليلُ

Qurayzah has indeed met what checked her;

Qurayza met the fate it earned

and abject humiliation settled upon her fortress.

And humiliation befell its fortress

وَسَعدٌ كانَ أَنذَرَهُم نَصيحاً

وَسَعدٌ كانَ أَنذَرَهُم نَصيحاً

بِأَنَّ إِلَهَهُم رَبٌّ جَليلُ

بِأَنَّ إِلَهَهُم رَبٌّ جَليلُ

And Saʿd had warned them as a sincere adviser

Sa'd had warned them sincerely

that their God is a majestic Lord.

That their God is the Almighty

فَما بَرَحوا بِنَقضِ العَهدِ حَتّى

فَما بَرَحوا بِنَقضِ العَهدِ حَتّى

غَزاهُم في دِيارِهِمِ الرَسولُ

غَزاهُم في دِيارِهِمِ الرَسولُ

Yet they kept on breaking the covenant until

Yet they broke the pact persistently

the Messenger attacked them in their own dwellings.

Until the Messenger raided their homes

أَحاطَ بِحِصنِهِم مِنّا صُفوفٌ

أَحاطَ بِحِصنِهِم مِنّا صُفوفٌ

لَهُ مِن حَرِّ وَقعَتِها صَليلُ

لَهُ مِن حَرِّ وَقعَتِها صَليلُ

Ranks of us surrounded their fortress;

Our ranks surrounded their fortress

it rang with the clash of their fierce assault.

With the clanging of hot iron upon it

فَصارَ المُؤمِنونَ بِدارِ خُلدٍ

فَصارَ المُؤمِنونَ بِدارِ خُلدٍ

أَقامَ لَها بِها ظِلٌّ ظَليلُ

أَقامَ لَها بِها ظِلٌّ ظَليلُ

So the believers came to an eternal abode,

Thus the believers entered the Abode of Eternity

where its sheltering shade abides.

For it he set up in it lasting shade
