أَلا أَبلِغ خُزاعِيّاً رَسولاً

أَلا أَبلِغ خُزاعِيّاً رَسولاً

فَإِنَّ الغَدرَ يَنقُضُهُ الوَلاءُ

فَإِنَّ الغَدرَ يَنقُضُهُ الوَلاءُ

Lo, convey a message to Khuzāʿī:

For loyalty undoes treachery.

وَإِنكَ خَيرُ عُثمانَ بنِ عَمروٍ

وَإِنكَ خَيرُ عُثمانَ بنِ عَمروٍ

وَأَسناهُم إِذا ذُكِرَ السَناءُ

وَأَسناهُم إِذا ذُكِرَ السَناءُ

And indeed you are the best of ʿUthmān ibn ʿAmr’s line,

And their most exalted when eminence is mentioned.

وَبايَعتَ الرَسولَ وَكانَ خَيراً

وَبايَعتَ الرَسولَ وَكانَ خَيراً

إِلى خَيرٍ وَأَدّاكَ الثَراءُ

إِلى خَيرٍ وَأَدّاكَ الثَراءُ

And you pledged allegiance to the Messenger—it was good

Added to good; and wealth has sustained you.

فَما يَغلِبكَ أَو لا تَستَطِعهُ

فَما يَغلِبكَ أَو لا تَستَطِعهُ

مِنَ الأَشياءِ لا يَغلِب عِداءُ

مِنَ الأَشياءِ لا يَغلِب عِداءُ

So whatever overcomes you, or you cannot accomplish,

Among all things, hostility cannot overcome either.
