مَن يَكُ عَنّا مَعشَرَ الأَسدِ سائِلاً

مَن يَكُ عَنّا مَعشَرَ الأَسدِ سائِلاً

فَنَحنُ بَنو الغَوثِ بنِ زَيدِ بنِ مالِكِ

فَنَحنُ بَنو الغَوثِ بنِ زَيدِ بنِ مالِكِ

If anyone asks about us, the people of al-Asd,

Who will ask of us, company of lions

then we are the sons of al-Ghawth, son of Zayd, son of Malik,

We are the sons of succor, sons of Zayd son of Malik

لِزَيدِ اِبنِ كَهلانَ الَّذي نالَ عِزُّهُ

لِزَيدِ اِبنِ كَهلانَ الَّذي نالَ عِزُّهُ

قَديماً ذَرارِيَّ النُجومِ الشَوابِكِ

قَديماً ذَرارِيَّ النُجومِ الشَوابِكِ

descended from Zayd, son of Kahlan, whose glory reached

Of Zayd son of Kahlān who attained his glory

long ago the summits of the interwoven stars.

Long ago, scions of splendid stars

إِذا القَومُ عَدّوا مَجدَهُم وَفَعالَهُم

إِذا القَومُ عَدّوا مَجدَهُم وَفَعالَهُم

وَأَيّامَهُم عِندَ اِلتِقاءِ المَناسِكِ

وَأَيّامَهُم عِندَ اِلتِقاءِ المَناسِكِ

When the people recount their glory and their deeds,

If a people recount their glory and deeds

and their days, when they gather for the sacred rites,

And their days at sanctified convocation

وَجَدتَ لَنا فَضلاً يُقِرُّ لَنا بِهِ

وَجَدتَ لَنا فَضلاً يُقِرُّ لَنا بِهِ

إِذا ما فَخَرنا كُلُّ باقٍ وَهالِكِ

إِذا ما فَخَرنا كُلُّ باقٍ وَهالِكِ

you find in us a distinction acknowledged as ours,

You will find we have surplus merit that gives

whenever we boast, by all the living and the dead.

When we vaunt, all else perished and gone

وَيَعرُبُ يَنميهِ لِقَحطانَ يَنتَمي

وَيَعرُبُ يَنميهِ لِقَحطانَ يَنتَمي

لِهودٍ نَبِيَّ اللَهِ فَوقَ الحَبائِكِ

لِهودٍ نَبِيَّ اللَهِ فَوقَ الحَبائِكِ

And Ya'rub gives him his lineage; to Qahtan he traces his descent,

Arab stock that traces its line to Qahtan

to Hud, prophet of God above the woven heavens.

To Hud the prophet of God, past all twining

يَمانونَ عادِيّونَ لَم يَلتَبِس بِنا

يَمانونَ عادِيّونَ لَم يَلتَبِس بِنا

مُناسِبُ شابَت مِن أُلي وَأولَئِكِ

مُناسِبُ شابَت مِن أُلي وَأولَئِكِ

Yemenis, of 'Ad: with us have never mingled

Yamanites, Adnanites, none confound us

lineages mixed from these folk and those.

With kindred whose glories are other than ours
