By your life, they never cease pursuing obscenity—
By your life! The tribe of Banu Zuhrah will never cease
The vile sons of Zuhrah, so long as a single one lives.
Seeking to do evil; the base-born never lived honorably.

Base are their endeavors, meager their fortunes;
Their natures are mean, their ancestries ignoble,
They band together against kindness to the foreign neighbor.
Yet to a neighbor, even a stranger, they are steadfast friends.

And none among them, amid noble deeds and glory,
And among them, in times of crisis and nobility,
When these arise one day in the course of time, is a man of honor.
Are found many glories, ancient and modern.
