And our steeds you found did not fail.

And indeed, on the morning of Badr, you met a band
You met at Badr's morn a band
Who struck you with blows unlike those of unarmored men.
Who struck you with blows, not gentle blows.

You are no longer summoned for a day of great calamity,
You are no longer called for days of glory,
O Amr, or for a momentous, dreadful affair.
O Amr, or for grave and heinous deeds.
