I said to my two eyes, the day they poured forth

Their tears beneath the weight of estrangement and distance:

Have mercy—for God has sent a passing visitor

To the heart with glad tidings; so bear longing patiently.

Do you not see that all affairs return

To God? God is most merciful to His servant.

Tomorrow, union will return, better than before,

And tears that clung to the cheek will be stanched.

For if seeking reconciliation has wounded my soul,

Then renewed union holds affection in store.

I trusted in this when longing set me ablaze,

And renewed union returned sweeter than honey.
