أسلمتُ وجهي للذي

أسلمتُ وجهي للذي

فطرَ الخلائقَ مِن عَدَمْ

فطرَ الخلائقَ مِن عَدَمْ

I have surrendered my face to the One

I submit my face to He who

who created all creatures from nothing.

Created all creatures from nonexistence

سبحانَ ربِّكَ إنَّه

سبحانَ ربِّكَ إنَّه

لو قال كُنْ للشيءِ تَمّْ

لو قال كُنْ للشيءِ تَمّْ

Glory be to your Lord, for

Glory be to your Lord, indeed He

if He says “Be” to a thing, it is accomplished.

If He says "Be" to a thing, it becomes

فالحمدُ للهِ الذي

فالحمدُ للهِ الذي

في حُكمِه الفصلُ الأتَمّْ

في حُكمِه الفصلُ الأتَمّْ

So praise be to God, whose

So praise be to Allah who

judgment holds the most complete verdict.

In His judgement is the most perfect

مَن كان لا يَرضَى به

مَن كان لا يَرضَى به

فلَهُ المهانةُ والنَّدَمْ

فلَهُ المهانةُ والنَّدَمْ

Whoever is not content with it

He who is not pleased with Him

will have humiliation and regret.

For him is disgrace and regret

لو كنتَ تعلمُ مهربًا

لو كنتَ تعلمُ مهربًا

مِن حُكمِه فانظُرْه ثَمّْ

مِن حُكمِه فانظُرْه ثَمّْ

If you knew of an escape

If you knew an escape

from His judgment, then behold it there.

From His judgement then look for it

فاصبِرْ لربِّكَ إنَّه

فاصبِرْ لربِّكَ إنَّه

سيجودُ بالخيرِ الأعَمّْ

سيجودُ بالخيرِ الأعَمّْ

So be patient for your Lord; He

So be patient for your Lord, indeed He

will lavish the most far-reaching good.

Will bring the greatest good

ويَذِلُّ كلُّ منافقٍ

ويَذِلُّ كلُّ منافقٍ

قد خاض في مدحٍ وذَمّْ

قد خاض في مدحٍ وذَمّْ

And every hypocrite will be humbled

And humiliate every hypocrite

who has waded into praise and blame.

Who indulged in praise and blame

واعلَمْ بأنَّ الأمرَ حيـ

واعلَمْ بأنَّ الأمرَ حيـ

ـثُ أرادَ ربُّكَ واستَتَمّْ

ـثُ أرادَ ربُّكَ واستَتَمّْ

And know that the matter is where

And know that the matter is alive

your Lord has willed and brought it to completion.

Wherever your Lord willed and completed

ما كان ربُّكَ غافلًا

ما كان ربُّكَ غافلًا

أو كان يَتركُ مَن ظَلَمْ

أو كان يَتركُ مَن ظَلَمْ

Your Lord has never been heedless,

Your Lord was not unaware

nor would He leave a wrongdoer unpunished.

Or leaving one who wronged

لكنَّه قَدَرٌ جرَى

لكنَّه قَدَرٌ جرَى

ومضَى بما خَطَّ القَلَمْ

ومضَى بما خَطَّ القَلَمْ

But it is a decree that has unfolded

But it was a decree that flowed

and proceeded as the Pen inscribed,

And passed with what the pen wrote

ليَمِيزَ ربُّكَ مَن غوَى

ليَمِيزَ ربُّكَ مَن غوَى

ومَنِ استقامَ ومَن ألمّْ

ومَنِ استقامَ ومَن ألمّْ

so that your Lord may distinguish those who strayed,

So your Lord may distinguish who strayed

and those who stayed upright, and those who committed lesser sins.

And who was steadfast and who faltered

في الدَّهرِ آياتٌ مضتْ

في الدَّهرِ آياتٌ مضتْ

وتَجِيءُ آياتٌ وكَمْ!!

وتَجِيءُ آياتٌ وكَمْ!!

Through the ages, signs have passed,

In life are signs that have passed

and signs keep coming—how many!

And signs that come and go!!

لا يَعبُرُ الفُسَّاقُ منـ

لا يَعبُرُ الفُسَّاقُ منـ

ـها غيرَ ترديدٍ وطَمّْ

ـها غيرَ ترديدٍ وطَمّْ

The wicked pass on from

The sinners do not learn from them

them with nothing but repetition and concealment.

Except repetition and nonsense
