كُلَّما تُبتُ عَن ذُنوبي مُنيباً

كُلَّما تُبتُ عَن ذُنوبي مُنيباً

وَتَبَلَّت بُكرَةً وَعَشِيّا

وَتَبَلَّت بُكرَةً وَعَشِيّا

Whenever I repent of my sins, turning back in penitence,

Whenever I repent of my sins in all humility

and devote myself to worship, morning and evening,

And weep morn and eve in contrition,

قامَ إِبليسٌ اللَعينُ وَنَفسي

قامَ إِبليسٌ اللَعينُ وَنَفسي

وَتَقوى بِما تَقوى عَلَيّا

وَتَقوى بِما تَقوى عَلَيّا

Iblis the accursed and my soul rise up,

The accursed Devil and my soul rise against me

and muster whatever strength they can against me.

And grow stronger because of my weakness.

ما اِحتِيالي وَقَد خُلِقتُ ضَعيفاً

ما اِحتِيالي وَقَد خُلِقتُ ضَعيفاً

وَضَعيفانِ يَغلِبانِ قَوِيّا

وَضَعيفانِ يَغلِبانِ قَوِيّا

What recourse have I, when I was created weak,

What can I do, when I was created weak?

and two weak ones overcome a strong one?

For the weak can overcome the strong.
