نهَنيكَ عَبدَ اللَهِ بِالرُتبَةِ الَّتي

نهَنيكَ عَبدَ اللَهِ بِالرُتبَةِ الَّتي

يَحِقُّ لَها التَبريكَ في واقِعِ الأَمرِ

يَحِقُّ لَها التَبريكَ في واقِعِ الأَمرِ

We congratulate you, ʿAbd Allāh, on the rank that

We congratulate you, Abdullah, on the rank that

truly merits congratulations, in all truth.

truly deserves congratulations.

فَإِنَّكَ أَحرى بِالَّتي هِيَ فَوقَها

فَإِنَّكَ أَحرى بِالَّتي هِيَ فَوقَها

وَلَيسَ لِهَذي مَوقِعُ نِسبَةِ القَدَرِ

وَلَيسَ لِهَذي مَوقِعُ نِسبَةِ القَدَرِ

For you are worthier of the one above it,

For you are more deserving of the one above it,

and this rank has no standing beside your worth.

and this one does not measure up to your worth.

فَخُذها هَنيأً وَاِنتَظِر تِلكَ تَلقَها

فَخُذها هَنيأً وَاِنتَظِر تِلكَ تَلقَها

تُوافيكَ تَستَدعي قُبولُكَ لِلعُذرِ

تُوافيكَ تَستَدعي قُبولُكَ لِلعُذرِ

So take it with joy, and await that higher one—you shall attain it;

So take it gladly, and await that one—you will find it

it will come to you, asking you to accept its excuse

coming to you, asking you to accept its excuse.

وَصَبراً عَلى التَأَخيرِ فَالغايَةُ الهُنا

وَصَبراً عَلى التَأَخيرِ فَالغايَةُ الهُنا

وَاِحسِن ما يَأتي الهَنا عَقِبَ الصَبرِ

وَاِحسِن ما يَأتي الهَنا عَقِبَ الصَبرِ

and asking your patience for the delay—for the end is bliss,

And be patient with the delay, for happiness is the goal;

and bliss is sweetest when it comes after patience.

and joy is best when it comes after patience.
