إِلى ماهِرَ صنوِ المَكارِمِ مُصطَفى

إِلى ماهِرَ صنوِ المَكارِمِ مُصطَفى

وَقاهُ إِلَهُ الناسِ مِن كُلِّ ماكِرِ

وَقاهُ إِلَهُ الناسِ مِن كُلِّ ماكِرِ

To Maher—Mustafa—the twin of noble virtues:

To the master of noble virtues, Mustafa

May the God of humankind protect him from every schemer.

May God protect him from every schemer

أَرى العِزَّ يَجري وَالمَعالي مُجِدَّةً

أَرى العِزَّ يَجري وَالمَعالي مُجِدَّةً

تَحِفُّ بِهِ وَالسَعدِ أَوَّلُ ناظِرِ

تَحِفُّ بِهِ وَالسَعدِ أَوَّلُ ناظِرِ

I see glory flowing and lofty honors earnestly

I see glory flowing and heights exalted

Surrounding him, while good fortune is the first to look on.

Bestowing them on him, the first to behold good fortune

وَلا بَعدُ حَيثُ الجَدِّ وَالحَزمِ شَأنُهُ

وَلا بَعدُ حَيثُ الجَدِّ وَالحَزمِ شَأنُهُ

وَمِن جِدٍّ لَم يَعدِم تَوازِرَ ناصِرِ

وَمِن جِدٍّ لَم يَعدِم تَوازِرَ ناصِرِ

Nor is this far-fetched, since diligence and resolve are his way;

And there is no alternative when seriousness and determination are his trait

And through earnest effort he has not lacked a helper's support.

And through his perseverance, he will never lack a supporting ally

فَعَمّا قَريبٍ قَد تَراهُ مُقَلِّداً

فَعَمّا قَريبٍ قَد تَراهُ مُقَلِّداً

مَناصِبَ عُليا راقِياً في المَفاخِرِ

مَناصِبَ عُليا راقِياً في المَفاخِرِ

So before long you may see him invested with

So whatever rank you now see him wearing

High offices, rising in distinction.

Ascending the heights, rising among the glories

وَما قَد بَدا حالاً فَهَذا نُعِدُّهُ

وَما قَد بَدا حالاً فَهَذا نُعِدُّهُ

مَبادي لِإِقبالٍ وَخَيرٍ لِماهِرِ

مَبادي لِإِقبالٍ وَخَيرٍ لِماهِرِ

And what has now appeared—this we regard as

And whatever state has now appeared

The beginnings of prosperity and good fortune for Maher.
