وَقَد بَدى بارِزُ النَهدَينِ لِلنَظَرِ
She passed by a garden guard, and he said to her,
She passed by a garden's guard, so he said to her
With the swell of her two breasts now plain to see:
As her protruding breasts became visible to the sight

ماذا الَّذي قَد أَرى روحي فِدائَكَ هَل

سَرَقتَ رُمّانَتي نَهدَيكِ مِن شَجري
“What is this I see—my soul be your ransom! Have you
What is it that I see, my soul your ransom, have
Stolen the two pomegranates of your breasts from my trees?”
You stolen my pomegranates, your breasts, from my trees?

She smiled, then said, turning away,
She smiled, then turning away said
Swaying people like a flourishing, verdant bough:
Bending people like a delicate, tender branch
أُمَثِّلُthe like of ...? (contextual reading) هاتَينِthese two هَذاthis الرَوضُthe garden يُثمِرُهُit bears it as fruit

“Does this garden bear the like of these two?
I represent these two, this garden bears them
Do not claim falsely! No, rather, they are my fruit.”
Do not falsely claim, no, but they are my fruit.
