O Abid al-Rahman, rejoice and be glad!

For gladness has dawned, and the wish is fulfilled.

The Generous One has granted you the finest little daughter,

Unveiling before her the sun of happiness.

    إِمّا الكَمالُ فَخَصَّ بِالتَربِيَه

    Protective care has kept close to serve her cradle;

As for perfection, it has singled her out for nurture.

[Unclear opening word]—and there I named her Aziza,

So she may live, resplendent in the ornaments of her name.

So her protection lies in Surah al-Rahman,

And in ‘Say: I seek refuge’ and the surah of Divine Self-Sufficiency.

And glad tidings to you—for hopes have recorded the date:

‘The gathering of serenity with Aziza Fathiyya.’
