لِيُديرَ الكُؤسَ في حالِ سُكرِهِ
Let poetry flow, admiringly, and make ready
Ask poetry enthralled and languidly
so he may pass the cups around in his drunken state.
To pass the cup about in drunken glee
فَنَهوهُso they forbade him فَقُلتُso I said لاdo not تَمنَعوهُstop him

وَدَعوهُ يَدورُ في حِلِّ شِعرِهِ
They forbade him, so I said, "Do not stop him,
They stopped him but I said “Let not this be
and let him circle freely within his poetry."
Leave him to weave in rapture poetry”
