أَشكُرُ اللَهَ يا مُحَمَّدَ وَأَحمَدَ

أَشكُرُ اللَهَ يا مُحَمَّدَ وَأَحمَدَ

لِوَلاءٍ أَولاكُهُ جَلَّ واهِبِ

لِوَلاءٍ أَولاكُهُ جَلَّ واهِبِ

I thank God, O Muhammad and Ahmad,

I thank Allah, O Muhammad and Ahmed

For the patronage He bestowed on you—exalted is the Giver.

For the loyalty He granted you, Most High is the Giver

وَاِذكُرِ الفَضلَ لِلخِديوي المُفَدّى

وَاِذكُرِ الفَضلَ لِلخِديوي المُفَدّى

أَنَّهُ في عُلاكَ راعي المَناقِبِ

أَنَّهُ في عُلاكَ راعي المَناقِبِ

And acknowledge the favor of the cherished Khedive,

And mention the merit to the protected Khedive

For in your rise he is the guardian of noble qualities.

That he, in your elevation, watched over merits

قَد رَأى فيكَ ناجِباً وَنَجيباً

قَد رَأى فيكَ ناجِباً وَنَجيباً

وَلَكَ السَبقَ بِالنَجا وَالنَجائِبِ

وَلَكَ السَبقَ بِالنَجا وَالنَجائِبِ

He has seen in you one gifted and noble,

He saw in you an earnest and noble one

And yours is the lead through swiftness and noble mounts.

And you preceded in deliverance and glories

وَتَدانى إِلَيهِ مِنكَ مَقامٌ

وَتَدانى إِلَيهِ مِنكَ مَقامٌ

تَتَرَقّى بِهِ لِأَرقى المَناصِبِ

تَتَرَقّى بِهِ لِأَرقى المَناصِبِ

And a station of yours drew near to him,

And a position approached him through you

Through which you ascend to the loftiest posts.

By which you rise to the highest positions

بِالثُلاثي مِنَ المَراتِبِ واسا

بِالثُلاثي مِنَ المَراتِبِ واسا

كَ قَريباً مِن حَيثُ لَم تَكُ طالِبِ

كَ قَريباً مِن حَيثُ لَم تَكُ طالِبِ

With the threefold rank he favored

With the three ranks of status live long

You recently, though you had not sought it.

As one near though you were not a seeker

ثُمَّ ثَنى بِما بِهِ تَتَثَنّى

ثُمَّ ثَنى بِما بِهِ تَتَثَنّى

في المَعالي مَعاطِفٌ وَمَناكِبِ

في المَعالي مَعاطِفٌ وَمَناكِبِ

Then he followed it with what sets swaying

Then he doubled with what you wrap yourself

Amid lofty honors, flanks and shoulders.

In glories, robes and shoulders

فَاِمحِضِ الوُدَّ وَالصَداقَةَ فيهِ

فَاِمحِضِ الوُدَّ وَالصَداقَةَ فيهِ

وَاِبذُلِ النَفسَ وَالنَفيسَ وَغالِبِ

وَاِبذُلِ النَفسَ وَالنَفيسَ وَغالِبِ

So offer him sincere affection and friendship,

So purify affection and friendship in him

And offer your life and treasures, and strive to overcome.

And sacrifice self, treasure, and overcome

وَإِلى مَن نَوى وَناوى اِعتِداء

وَإِلى مَن نَوى وَناوى اِعتِداء

لِذَويهِ فَاِنصِب وَحامي وَناصِبِ

لِذَويهِ فَاِنصِب وَحامي وَناصِبِ

And against whoever intends aggression and harbors hostility

And to whoever intends and plots aggression

Against his kin, stand firm, defend, and oppose.

Against his people, take a stand, protect and oppose

وَتَوَكَّل عَلى القَديرِ وَخُذهُ

وَتَوَكَّل عَلى القَديرِ وَخُذهُ

لَكَ نِعمَ الوَكيلِ فَالحَقُّ غالِبِ

لَكَ نِعمَ الوَكيلِ فَالحَقُّ غالِبِ

And rely upon the Almighty, and take Him

And rely on the Powerful, take Him

As your guardian—how excellent! For truth prevails.

As the best Trustee, for truth is victorious

وَتَهنَأ وَاِبشِر بِنَيلِ الأَماني

وَتَهنَأ وَاِبشِر بِنَيلِ الأَماني

مِن عَلاءٍ وَلا تَكُن مُتَعاجِبِ

مِن عَلاءٍ وَلا تَكُن مُتَعاجِبِ

And be happy, and rejoice at attaining your wishes

And congratulate and get glad tidings of wishes fulfilled

Of eminence, and do not be astonished.

Of elevation, and be not an admirer

فَالمَعالي قالَت إِلى المَجدِ اِرخِ

فَالمَعالي قالَت إِلى المَجدِ اِرخِ

بِالشَباشي تَزدانُ أَسنا المَراتِبِ

بِالشَباشي تَزدانُ أَسنا المَراتِبِ

For high honors said to glory, “Record the date:

For the glories said to glory set forth

With al-Shabashi the most splendid ranks are adorned.”

With the royal garb the ranks of status are adorned

وَلَه الحَقُّ وَالمَزايا شُهودٌ

وَلَه الحَقُّ وَالمَزايا شُهودٌ

فَهيَ مِنكَ الثَرى وَأَنتَ الثَواقِبِ

فَهيَ مِنكَ الثَرى وَأَنتَ الثَواقِبِ

And truth and merits bear witness for him,

And his are the right and merits, witnesses are

For beside you they are dust, while you are the piercing stars.

From you the land and you the meteors

وَبِناءً عَلَيهِ قَد صَدَرَ الحُك

وَبِناءً عَلَيهِ قَد صَدَرَ الحُك

مُ بِجِماعِ أَهلِ كُلِّ المَذاهِبِ

مُ بِجِماعِ أَهلِ كُلِّ المَذاهِبِ

And on that basis, judgment has been issued

And based upon it the judgment was issued

By the whole body of adherents of all schools of thought.

With consensus of the people of all doctrines
