I see high honors attending to those deemed worthy of them;
and glory has come to side with people of merit.

كَخَبطِ عَشواءَ بَينَ الناسِ تَجتازُ
I am not to blame for saying how often I have watched them
pass among people like a stumbling, night-blind she-camel.

But our Abbas has increased their honor,
and honor and esteem from him have adorned them.

فَقَدfor indeed تَحَلَّتthey adorned themselves بِهِwith him وَاِمتازَand gained distinction مَوقِعُهاtheir place

And so let it be, preserving every radiance:
no pearl is lost when safely kept in a treasury.
وَحِليَةُand the adornment of السَيفِthe sword لاnot تُغنيis of use بِرَونَقِهاwith its luster
وَحِليَةُ السَيفِ لا تُغني بِرَونَقِها
إِنif فارَقَhas left المَتنَthe blade إِرهافٌsharpness وَإِجهازُand killing power
إِن فارَقَ المَتنَ إِرهافٌ وَإِجهازُ
And a sword's adornment, for all its luster, is of no avail
if sharpness and killing power forsake the blade.
