مَن أَحرَزَ الفَضلَ الجَليلَ بِجِدِّهِ

مَن أَحرَزَ الفَضلَ الجَليلَ بِجِدِّهِ

وَاِمتازَ فينا بِالمَقامِ العالي

وَاِمتازَ فينا بِالمَقامِ العالي

He who attained great distinction through his diligence,

He who attained great merit through his diligence

and stood out among us by his lofty station,

And was distinguished among us in high station

وَسَرَت مَناقِبُهُ بِمِصرَ جَميعاً

وَسَرَت مَناقِبُهُ بِمِصرَ جَميعاً

رَغمَ الحَسودِ بِعِزَّةٍ وَكَمالِ

رَغمَ الحَسودِ بِعِزَّةٍ وَكَمالِ

and whose virtues spread throughout all Egypt,

And whose virtues spread throughout Egypt

despite the envious, with dignity and perfection—

Despite the envious, with honor and perfection

لا غَروَ أَن مَنَحوهُ بِالرُتَبِ السَنِي

لا غَروَ أَن مَنَحوهُ بِالرُتَبِ السَنِي

يَةِ وَاِرتَقى لِمَناصِبِ الإِجلالِ

يَةِ وَاِرتَقى لِمَناصِبِ الإِجلالِ

no wonder they bestowed exalted ranks upon him,

It is no wonder they granted him senior positions

and he rose to positions of honor.

And he rose to offices of veneration

أَو ما تَرَونَ ذَوي البَصائِرِ أَرخوا

أَو ما تَرَونَ ذَوي البَصائِرِ أَرخوا

مَجداً يَزادُ لِمُحرِزِ الأَفضالِ

مَجداً يَزادُ لِمُحرِزِ الأَفضالِ

Or do you not see that those with insight have chronicled

Or don't you see the insightful recorded

a glory added to the achiever of merits?

Glory that increases for the attainer of virtues
