سقَى اللهُ أَيَّاماً لنا وليالياً

مَضينَ فما يُرجَى لهنَّ رجوعُ

May God water our days and nights,

God has granted us days and nights

now gone, with no hope of their return,

That have passed, never to return

إذ العيشُ صافٍ والاحبَّةُ جيرةٌ

إذ العيشُ صافٍ والاحبَّةُ جيرةٌ

جميعٌ وإذ كلُّ الزَّمانِ ربيعُ

جميعٌ وإذ كلُّ الزَّمانِ ربيعُ

when life was unclouded and loved ones were neighbors,

When life was pure, and loved ones close

all together, and when all time was spring;

All together, and all time was spring

وإِذ أنا أَمَّا للعواذلِ في الصِبّا

وإِذ أنا أَمَّا للعواذلِ في الصِبّا

فَعاصٍ وأَمَّا لِلهوى فَمُطِيعُ

فَعاصٍ وأَمَّا لِلهوى فَمُطِيعُ

and when, in youth, as for the reproaching women, I was

When I, for maidens in my youth

disobedient, and as for love, obedient.

Was rebellious, but to passion, obedient
