لَمَّاwhen اسْتَخَصَّclaimed for itself الموتُdeath هَيْلاناHaylana
I suffered pains and sorrows
I suffered pains and sorrows
When death claimed Haylana for itself.
When death chose Haylan as its victim
فارقتُI parted from عَيْشيmy life حينَwhen فارقتُهاI parted from her
فَماso not أُباليI care كَيْفَhow ماever كَاناit may be
I parted from my life when I parted from her,
I lost my life when I lost her
So I do not care what becomes of it.
So I care not what may happen

She was the world itself; and when she lay at rest
She was my life, and when she passed away
In her grave, I parted from our world.
And was buried in her grave, I lost my world

People are indeed many, yet I
Many people there may be, but I
See no human being after you.
See no human after you

By God, I will not forget you as long as
By God! I'll not forget you while
A wind stirs branches on the heights of Najd.
The winds stir branches in Najd's heights
