ذَكرتُ اِبنَةَ السَعدِيِّ ذِكرى وَدونَها

ذَكرتُ اِبنَةَ السَعدِيِّ ذِكرى وَدونَها

رَحا جابِرٍ وَاِحتَلَّ أَهلي الأَداهِما

رَحا جابِرٍ وَاِحتَلَّ أَهلي الأَداهِما

I recalled al-Saʿdī’s daughter, while between us lay

I remembered the daughter of Sa'di in memory, and below her

Raḥā Jābir, and my people had settled in al-Adāhim,

The departure of Jabir, and my family took the russet camels

فَحَزمُ قُطَيّاتِ إِذِ البالُ صالحٌ

فَحَزمُ قُطَيّاتِ إِذِ البالُ صالحٌ

فَكَبشَةَ مَعروفٍ فَغولا فَقادِما

فَكَبشَةَ مَعروفٍ فَغولا فَقادِما

then Ḥazm Quṭayyāt, when all was well,

So the resolve of Qutayyat's when the condition was good

then Kabshat Maʿrūf, then Ghawl, then Qādim.

To Ka'bsha of Ma'ruf, so lead on!
