    Abodes swept over every evening

and every forenoon by drifting dust, fine and thick.

Then I glimpsed the backs of the laden camels, as though they were

date-palm groves whose fruit-bearing trees had not been covered.

And they said: Today you have done what you do not conceal,

and boldly confronted a matter you had long pursued.

You came to us on the day of al-Dhuʾayb with a youth,

high-nosed, like a sword blade, and sweet in his ways.
