  3. أنت نوري وبهجتي وسروري

    وأنيسي وراحتي وفتوني

    You are my light, my delight, and my joy,

    And my companion, my comfort, and my enchantment.

  4. قل صبري وذاب في الحب قلبي

    من لقلب غدا قتيل العيون

    My patience has waned, and my heart has melted in love.

    Who will aid a heart now slain by eyes?

  5. يا حبيبي وأنت أغلى حبيبي

    فيك أحلى قصائدي لحوني

    O my beloved, you are my dearest beloved;

    My loveliest poems and melodies are of you.

  6. كتب الحب لفظها والمعاني

    وتهادى بها الهوى في الغصون

    Love wrote their words and meanings,

    And passion drifted with them among the boughs.

  7. وسرت كالنسيم تحمل شوقي

    وكتابي إلى الحبيب الضنين

    And they wafted like the breeze, carrying my longing

    And my letter to the withholding beloved.

  8. لبخيل بنفحة من شذاه

    وكريم بالصد في كل حين

    Indeed, he is stingy with a waft of his fragrance,

    And generous with rejection at every moment.

  9. هو مني كالروح ينعش جسمي

    مثلما الأرض تنتشي بالمزون

    He is to me like the soul, reviving my body,

    Just as the earth is exhilarated by rain clouds.

  10. يا حياتي يا نفحتي في حياتي

    ألف حب هوى بقاع العيون

    O my life, O my fragrant breath in my life,

    A thousand loves have fallen into the depths of eyes.

  11. في عيون غرقت في مقلتيه

    من معيني بكأس ماء معين

    In eyes I drowned—in his two eyes.

    Who will aid me with a cup of flowing water?
