and virtues adorned by modesty,
And manners graced with modesty,
like garden plants visited at dawn by dew.
Like a garden's early blossoms with dew.

So my heart came to lie in the wind's path,
So my heart sways in the wind's blow,
the spiral road winding around it.
Twisting down this spiral road.

لعزتناof our dignity فيرفضهso he rejects it الأبيthe proud-spirited one
Answer me: is love a diminishment
Tell me, is love a blow to pride
of our dignity, so that the proud reject it?
That a dignified man would shun?

Or is love reverence and pride,
Or is love exaltation and pride,
too exalted for the ignoble to feel?
Too lofty for the boorish and crude?

The fool says to me, "I see you singing
The fool says "I see you sing
for an enchantress"—but the fool does not know
Of a beauty, and what does a fool know

that I am a poet who places his rhymes
That I, a poet, craft verses
where love and radiant beauty dwell.
Where beauty and love neatly flow?"

I sing for beauty, and no one sings
I sing of beauty, and none sing
for a beautiful woman but a genius.
Of beauty itself but the gifted soul.

فليسfor there is no لحسنfor the beauty of فاتنتيmy enchantress سميequal
So name beauty as you wish, with earnest effort;
Name beauty what you will in judgment,
for my enchantress's beauty has no equal.
For my darling's beauty has no name to me.

I soar alone in the sky of love,
Alone I soar in love's sky,
and between my ribs is a fierce longing.
Yearning deep in my core.

Poetry and beauty bring us together,
each of us is rich from our own mines.
Both from its rich ore.
فلاso no لومblame عليناupon us إنif عشقنthey (feminine) loved
ولكنbut الملومthe one to blame هوhe الخليthe one free of love
So no blame rests on us if they fall in love,
So blame us not if we fell in love,
but the one to blame is the one untouched by love.
But blame the one hostile and cold.

I turned away from passion for a time, but
I shunned love for a time but now,
before love, even the strong collapse.
Before love the mighty are bowed.

So I returned to it, paying no heed to advice,
So I return, heeding no advice,
for I have no need of your advice.
For I need none of you as guide.
