لَفَفْتُ النّاسَ فى شَهْباءَ قِطْرِ

Were it not for Mālik and Abū Anīs,

Were it not for Malik and Abu Anis

I would have enveloped the people in an ashen-gray mass of molten copper.

I would have wrapped people in a blazing flame
