وهضبة مجديَ لم تطلَع
The summit of my eminence has never been reached,
The summit of my glory was never attained,
nor has the hill of my glory been scaled.
And the plateau of my majesty did not rise.
فقلْso say لرجالto men سعتstrove جُهدهاtheir utmost
فقلْ لرجال سعت جُهدها

لتدرك فوق السهى موضعي
So tell the men who strove their utmost
So say to the men whose efforts

حياءً من الخزي لم تطلع
Were the sun to possess their ancestral honors,
If the sun had any shame
out of shame at disgrace, it would not rise.
It would not have risen from disgrace.

And from my resolve the gleaming swords are forged;
By my resolve the whites are imprinted,
and but for my keenness, they would not cut.
And but for my hard blows they would not be minted.
