لِبَدرٍfor a full moon تَمٍّcomplete غابَset قَبلَbefore الأَوانِthe appointed time
لِبَدرٍ تَمٍّ غابَ قَبلَ الأَوانِ
You two have made me yearn, O Farqad stars,
For a full moon that set before its time.
وَكُلَّماand whenever أَشرَقتُماyou two shine مَرَّةًonce

And each time you both shine,
You teach my eyes to string pearls,

That gladdened the eyes of the houris of Paradise.

قَد كانَ مِنّا لَيلَةَ المِهرَجانِ
As though the last we knew of happiness
Had been on the night of the festival.
