    وَدانَ لَكَ المِقدارُ حَتّى أَمِنّاهُ

    Good fortune revealed itself to you, till we beheld it;

    And fate submitted to you, till we felt safe from it.

    Sulayman, you reminded Time and its people

    Of Solomon's glory and the prosperity of his life.

    If you set out one day, the ants warn one another,

    For fear that an army of your retainers might sweep over them.

    And if you are in a garden, its birds sing

    And cry upon the boughs, “May God protect you!”

    And David's son had the wind as a servant,

    While the days, good fortune, and prestige serve you.

    فَطاهِرَةٌ وَالبَيتُ وَالقُدسُ أَشباهُ

    You settle where glory has laid down its baggage;

    So Tahira, the Sacred House, and Jerusalem are alike.

    You donned recovery as a new, blessed robe,

    So you clothed us in a robe of honor that pleases us.

    فَلَمّا شَفاكَ اللَهُ أَهدَأتَ أَحشاهُ

    And Time's heart had been pounding with worry for you;

    And when God healed you, you soothed its inmost being.

    And night and day congratulated Time, and now

    The days bring us what we wish for.

    And your illustrious sons passed the night, some proudly clad

    In a robe of good fortune, others deeply grateful to their Lord.

    Sulayman, live on as long as bright stars remain in the darkness,

    And as long as that full moon travels its nightly course.

    And be the joy of Ali's wedding, for

    Through your glory, his merits are perfected amid the festivities.

    And do not forget him who spent the evening turning his gaze about,

    Yet his eyes saw no one among the people but you.
