May God spare us the need for Ibn Qadir’s lands,
May God make the land of Ibn Qadir needless
May Allah suffice us, far from the land of Ibn Qadir,
with a torrential cloud, its cloudbanks dark, pouring copiously—
Of a pouring rain from the strings of a rabab,
With a pouring rain from dark, heavy clouds,
هِجَفٍّhulking; massive تَحَفُّrustles الريحُthe wind فَوقَabove سِبالِهِits whiskers

لَهُ مِن لِوَيّاتِ العُكومِ نَصيبُ
a hulking one, the wind rustling above its whiskers;
Clouds which the wind stirs above their trains,
A torrent over whose falling streams the wind blows,
it has a share of the provisions stowed in baggage-bundles.
Getting a share of the twists of Ukoom.
Taking its portion from the winding dunes.
