Lo, the raven cawed over you at noon.
Alas! The raven perched upon your back,
Did the crow caw at you at noon?
Ah, may some of that dust be in your mouth!
Alas! Of that dust, some still clings in your wings.
Nay, may your mouth be filled with dust!

The raven tells us that they will go far away—
The raven tells us you shall come no more,
The crow brings news that they will depart—
our beloved ones. May I lose you, O raven!
Our loved one lost, o raven, we now deplore.
Our beloveds; may you perish, O crow!
