فَلَم أَنسَهُم يَومَ الخَميسِ وَكَرَّهُم

فَلَم أَنسَهُم يَومَ الخَميسِ وَكَرَّهُم

عَلَيهِ وَيَومَ القَصرِ إِذ حُرِسَ القَصرُ

عَلَيهِ وَيَومَ القَصرِ إِذ حُرِسَ القَصرُ

So I have not forgotten them on Thursday, nor their charge

I could not forget them on Thursday when I disliked

against him, nor the day of the palace, when the palace was guarded,

them that day, and on the day of Qasr when the palace was guarded,

وَدَفعَهُمُ الجَعدِيَّ إِذ يَطرُدونَهُ

وَدَفعَهُمُ الجَعدِيَّ إِذ يَطرُدونَهُ

وَأَدرَكَهُ التَحكيمُ وَالقَصَبُ السُمرُ

وَأَدرَكَهُ التَحكيمُ وَالقَصَبُ السُمرُ

nor their driving al-Jaʿdī back as they pursued him;

and Al-Ja'di repelled them when they were chasing him,

and the cry for God's judgment overtook him, along with the brown spear-shafts.

and arbitration overtook him, and the slender reeds.
