Sol 6.1

  1. ربى لبنان تبسم بالأقاح

    وبشرى النصر منبلج الصباح

    The hills of Lebanon smile with daisies,

    And victory's glad tidings are the break of dawn.

  2. ترفرف فوقها الرايات نشوى

    على رأس الأسنة والرماح

    Above them, the banners flutter, intoxicated with joy,

    Atop the spearheads and spears.

  3. تغشّاها العدو بكل كرب

    وظنّ الغزو مأمون النجاح

    The enemy engulfed them in every anguish,

    And thought the invasion assured of success.

  4. وظن جناحه المختال نسرا

    فعاد الوغد مكسور الجناح

    And thought his swaggering wing an eagle,

    So the scoundrel returned with a broken wing.

  5. وجاء برجله يسعى اختيالا

    وعاد يئنّ من ألم الكُساح

    And he came on foot, strutting arrogantly,

    And returned groaning with the pain of being crippled.

  6. وراء حصونهم آساد غاب

    تدمدم بالقنابل والسلاح

    Behind their fortresses are lions of the forest,

    Rumbling with bombs and weapons,

  7. على(برج البراجن)أو (بصبرا)

    و(شاتيلا) و(صيدا) والضواحي

    At Burj al-Barajneh, or in Sabra,

    And Shatila, and Sidon, and the suburbs.

  8. وتقصف فوق (قانا) بالرزايا

    على الأطفال في صلف وقاح

    And they rain calamities down over Qana,

    Upon the children, with brazen arrogance.

  9. وفي ساح الوغى يوم التلاقي

    تفرّ كأنها زُمر الأضاحي

    And on the field of battle, on the day of encounter,

    They flee like herds of sacrificial beasts.

  10. فليسوا في النّزال سوى نعاج

    دهاها الموت من كبش النطاح

    For in combat they are nothing but ewes,

    Overtaken by death from a butting ram.

  11. إذا الباغي تغطرس باجتياح

    وظلمٌ عمّ في كل البطاح

    When the aggressor grows arrogant in invasion,

    And oppression spreads across all the plains,

  12. فنحن الطالبون الموت (طُلبى)

    ونحن الصامدون بكل ساح

    Then we are those who seek death as their goal,

    And we are the steadfast in every field.

  13. ونحن ال(كاتيوشا) متقنوها

    فلوذوا بالملاجيء … كالملاح

    And we are those who master the Katyusha,

    So seek refuge in shelters, like the sailor.

  14. ولن نرضى بغير الدمّ حبراً

    بظَهر نزّ من وخز الرماح

    And we shall accept nothing but blood as ink,

    On a back oozing from spear-thrusts.

  15. يولّي ظهره المحنيّ خزياً

    ويجري .. لا يهاب من افتضاح

    He turns his bent back in disgrace,

    And runs, unafraid of being exposed.

  16. هروباً من ثرى لبنان ..يجري

    وقد ضاقت به كل النواحي

    Fleeing Lebanon's soil, he runs,

    And every quarter has closed in on him.

  17. هروب المجرم الباغي بليلٍ

    يفرّ بريشه.. قبل الصباح

    The flight of a criminal aggressor by night,

    He flees with his feathers before dawn.

  18. فنحن (أبو دجانة) و (المثنّى)

    بساح الموت.. صالت بالصّفاح

    For we are Abu Dujana and al-Muthanna,

    On the field of death, charging with sword-blades.

  19. ونحن (القادسيّة)صانعوها

    وفي حطين أجناد ال(صلاح)

    And we are the makers of al-Qadisiyya,

    And at Hattin, the troops of Salah.

  20. و(ضيف) و(العماد) مهندسونا

    و(يحيى).. زين عشّاق السلاح

    And Deif and al-Imad are our engineers,

    And Yahya, the adornment of those who love arms.

  21. كفانا(أحمد الياسين) منا

    و(محيي الدين).. أبطال الكفاح

    Ahmad al-Yasin, one of us, suffices us,

    And Muhyi al-Din—the heroes of the struggle.

  22. أقام بأرضنا عشرين عاماً

    يباهي باجتياح.. واكتساح

    He stayed in our land for twenty years,

    Boasting of invasion and overrunning.

  23. وجنّد للعمالة كلّ ذيل

    تدوس عليه.. يسرف في النباح

    And enlisted every servile tail as a collaborator,

    You trample him; he barks to excess.

  24. يبيع ضميره تعساً.. وبخساً

    (مسيلمة).. وأفجر من( سجاح)

    He sells his conscience, wretchedly and cheaply,

    Musaylima—and more depraved than Sajah.

  25. إذا ما فرّ صاحبه بليل

    جرى يبكي.. ويسرف في النّواحِ

    Whenever his companion flees by night,

    He runs weeping, and wails to excess.

  26. (مصيّف قريتين) وصفر أيد

    وسكراناً يسير.. بغير راح

    Summering in two villages, yet empty-handed,

    And walking drunkenly, without wine.

  27. فقال له اليهود إليك عنا

    فوجهك ليس وجها للفلاح

    So the Jews said to him, 'Away from us!'

    For your face is no face of good fortune.

  28. ومن يخن البلاد يعش خؤونا

    رخيصا في الغدوّ أو الرّواح

    And whoever betrays the land lives as a traitor,

    Worthless, whether setting out in the morning or returning in the evening.

  29. ومن يخن العشيرة ليس إلا

    (غراب البين) مسودّ الجناح

    And whoever betrays the clan is nothing but

    The raven of parting, black-winged.

  30. بنو صهيون في لبنان درسٌ

    لكم يتلى.. بألسنة فصاح

    Sons of Zion, in Lebanon there is a lesson

    Recited to you by eloquent tongues:

  31. بأنّ شعوبنا تغلي ببأس

    ولن ترضى بحق مستباح

    That our peoples seethe with might,

    And will not accept a right being violated,

  32. ولن ترضى دخيلا في ثراها

    ولن ترضى بأولاد السّفاح

    And will not accept an intruder in their soil,

    And will not accept the children of fornication.

  33. فقد علم الأشاوس من بنيها

    بأن النصر في حمل السلاح

    For the valiant among their sons have learned

    That victory lies in bearing arms.
