ما أزمتي اشتدَّت لوِقرِ خطيَّتي

إلّا وهانت بافتتاح البسملهْ

إلّا وهانت بافتتاح البسملهْ

Whenever my distress worsened under the burden of my sin,

Whenever my troubles grow severe from my sins

It eased when I began with 'In the name of God.'

They disappear when I say "In the name of God"

ما هانت الأثقال يوم بليتي

ما هانت الأثقال يوم بليتي

إلّا وأهديت الإلهَ الحَمدَلَهْ

إلّا وأهديت الإلهَ الحَمدَلَهْ

Whenever burdens grew light on the day of my affliction,

Whenever burdens weigh me down

I offered God the words 'Praise be to God.'

I praise and thank God

ماأهدت الأفكار ثَمْرَ رويتي

ماأهدت الأفكار ثَمْرَ رويتي

إلّا وأردفتُ الهدى والسبحَلَهْ

إلّا وأردفتُ الهدى والسبحَلَهْ

Whenever thoughts offered the fruit of my reflection,

Whenever my thoughts bear no fruit

I followed with guidance and 'Glory be to God.'

I follow right guidance and glorify Him

ما أردفت حُزني كُلومُ طويتي

ما أردفت حُزني كُلومُ طويتي

إلّا انذهلت فجاوبتني الحوقَلَهْ

إلّا انذهلت فجاوبتني الحوقَلَهْ

Whenever the wounds of my inmost self added to my grief,

Whenever sadness shrouds my suffering

I was stunned, and 'There is no power or strength except through God' answered me.

I am amazed and He answers me in Hawqala

ما حارت الخِلّان يوم منيتي

ما حارت الخِلّان يوم منيتي

إلّا وجدت لصاحبي بالجَعفَلَهْ

إلّا وجدت لصاحبي بالجَعفَلَهْ

Whenever friends were bewildered on the day of my death,

Whenever my companions are confused

I gave generously to my companion, saying, 'May I be your ransom.'

I find my friend in Ja'fala

ما جدت مختاراً بنفس مشيَّتي

ما جدت مختاراً بنفس مشيَّتي

إلّا وعظمت العَلِيْ بالهَيلَلَهْ

إلّا وعظمت العَلِيْ بالهَيلَلَهْ

Whenever I gave generously, willingly and of my own will,

Whenever I seek a guide for my desires

I exalted the Most High with 'There is no god but God.'

I glorify the Exalted One in Haylala
