Trustworthiness and upright faith show us

that only through these two is an animal human.

So never trust one who says, 'Indeed, I can speak,'

yet has neither trustworthiness nor faith in his speech.

He is a parrot in speech, though he is no bird,

and the rest of him, in build and form, is a khaylān.

So a parrot is not deemed rational for speaking,

nor is that khaylān human by nature.

This, then, is the premise of the syllogism concerning his nature:

its conclusion—praise be to God—is an animal.

    نتيجتُه واللَهُ أعلمُ شيطان

    So invert it: you will find its converse gives the opposite judgment about him;

    its conclusion—God knows best—is a devil.
