if dung beetles in the dung are distressed by it.

even if a monkey and ticks spurn their beauty.

Our filth has not harmed the cross's light; within it

lies a mystery a human being sought through faith.

After its summons, all but the Christians

are ignorant of its perfect light, and blind.

seeking blessing, and through it a devil recoils.

yet you, despite your twofold guidance, are bewildered.

Behold, the peoples beneath his banner become

two groups at resurrection: the victorious and the forsaken.

And on the Day of Rising, believers have through it

a just balance and scales at the tribunal of justice.
