وارحمتاه لميت في دينه

متقلباً عنه بنار المطهرِ

Oh, the pity for a dead man in debt,

Writhing on its account in Purgatory's fire.

يرجو الوفاءَ وفاءَ دين حياته

عما جنى من كل فعلٍ منكر

He hopes for payment, payment of his life's debt,

For every wicked deed he committed.

هل ترحموني بعد ربي أنتمُ

يا أصدقايَ فإنني لم أكفر

Will you yourselves, after my Lord, have mercy on me,

O my friends? For indeed I did not disbelieve.

غُفرت ذنوبي فاتقيتُ جهنماً

لكن عقابي بعدَه لم يُغفَر

My sins were forgiven, so I escaped Hell,

But my punishment thereafter was not remitted,

إلا بأسرار الإله ومريمٍ

لا يُحرَمُ العطشان ماءَ العنصر

Except through the mysteries of God and Mary.

The thirsty one is not denied elemental water.
