1. يا غافلاً عن نفسه

    احذر فأنت بذاك هالكْ

    O you who are heedless of yourself,

    beware, for you are thereby doomed.

  2. مهما تقل في الغير قا

    لوا فيك أكثرَ أو كذلكْ

    Whatever you say of others, they will

    say more of you, or just as much.

  3. احفظ لسانك تسترح

    كم صامتٍ للبر مالك

    Guard your tongue, and you will find rest.

    Many a silent person possesses righteousness.

  4. إن اللسان بشرِِّه

    يُفني الملوك مع الممالك

    Indeed, the tongue, through its evil,

    destroys kings along with kingdoms.

  5. فاسلك طريقاً سالكاً

    واترك طريقاً غير سالك

    So follow a passable path,

    and leave an impassable path.

  6. لو ظل بطرس صامتاً

    لم ينتحب والليلُ حالك

    Had Peter remained silent,

    he would not have sobbed while the night was pitch-dark.

  7. ويسوع عند سكوته

    أخزى حواسدَه بذلك

    And Jesus, in his silence,

    put those who envied him to shame thereby.

  8. حالان فاختر منهما

    حالاً يُفيد لحسن حالك

    Two states—so choose from them

    a state conducive to your well-being.
