كأن ألفاظَ نمامٍ ينمُّ بنا

شهدٌ تضمنه لدغُ الدبابير

شهدٌ تضمنه لدغُ الدبابير

It is as though the words of a tale-bearer who gossips about us

As if the words of Namam sprout within us,

Were honey enclosed by the stings of wasps.

Honey containing the stings of wasps.

فكل قطرة شهدٍ من نميمته

فكل قطرة شهدٍ من نميمته

كنانةٌ حشوُها نبلُ الزنابير

كنانةٌ حشوُها نبلُ الزنابير

For every drop of honey from his tale-bearing

So each drop of honey from his gossip

Is a quiver filled with hornets' arrows.

Is a cell filled with the venom of hornets.
