    In Marjallin we encountered deeds

that remind us of the deeds of those who fabricate lies:

in a man who showed us goodness in words

without substance, so we thought him a helper.

He first invited us, until we arrived,

then proved to be among men who break their word.

And his cloud, for us, was rainless,

and his lightning's false flash was a promise to us.

So do not marvel at a person who has taken a byname

with the meaning of the name of the mother of all humankind.

For the sword is given a byname from its meaning:

'evil,' since evil lay hidden within it.

He built what he built upon our blood—

which has become martyrs' blood while still within us.

    وإن يَسقُطْ جزاءُ الظالمينا

    For if it stands thus, it will bear witness against him;

and if it falls, that is retribution for the oppressors.
