If we see Adam and his deeds

as God's decree ordained from the world's beginning,

let us not accuse him, saying, 'Because he arranged marriages

and married his two sons to his two daughters in lewdness,

we have learned that mankind comes from a corrupt origin.'

For this is a claim our law now entails.

So whoever reviles mankind lies when he says,

'And indeed, all creation comes from the stock of fornication.'

Have you not seen that the Lord of the law, in every era,

has ordinances that render a clearly stated judgment?

If the one who ordained the law is one—

God Himself—then the truth is clear in all.
