قد ضل من لم يرض في إيمانه

قد ضل من لم يرض في إيمانه

إلا الذي حقّاً يراه ويُخبِرُ

إلا الذي حقّاً يراه ويُخبِرُ

He has gone astray who, in his faith, accepts nothing

He who is not satisfied with his faith

Except what he truly sees and reports.

Except with what he truly sees and is told

إذ كان مقتدراً ولم يصنع سوى

إذ كان مقتدراً ولم يصنع سوى

ما نحن ندري كان من لا يقدرُ

ما نحن ندري كان من لا يقدرُ

For if he were powerful yet made nothing beyond

Since He is All Powerful, yet He does nothing

What we know, he would be one who lacks power.

Other than what we know He is unable to do

فالمؤمن الشرعي يُخضعُ عقلَه

فالمؤمن الشرعي يُخضعُ عقلَه

طوعاً إلى تصديق ما لا يظهرُ

طوعاً إلى تصديق ما لا يظهرُ

Thus the orthodox believer submits his reason

So the true believer willingly submits his intellect

Willingly to belief in what is not apparent.
