Gray hair has come, its banners already appearing;
Old age has come and raised its flags,
and my death’s worn-out mount danced to decay’s chant.
While my death dances to the tune of decay.
كمhow many a غافلٍheedless person باتspent the night فيin الشهْواتlusts مخترصاًfabricating falsehoods
كم غافلٍ بات في الشهْوات مخترصاً
حتىuntil دعاهcalled him الردىdeath لبّاهanswered its call محتَرِصاeagerly
حتى دعاه الردى لبّاه محتَرِصا
How many a heedless man spent the night amid lusts, fabricating falsehoods,
How many heedless souls find joy in lust
until death called him, and he answered eagerly.
Until ruin calls them, cautious and withdrawn.
