فإن خضعَ العقلُ الوضي لحواسنا

فإن خضعَ العقلُ الوضي لحواسنا

فيأكلُ معْها من طعام الصعالكِ

فيأكلُ معْها من طعام الصعالكِ

For if the radiant intellect submits to our senses,

If the humble mind submits to our senses

then it eats with them of the food of paupers.

It will feast with them on the food of fools

وإن خضعت تلك الحواس لعقلنا

وإن خضعت تلك الحواس لعقلنا

فتأكل معْه من طعام الملائكِ

فتأكل معْه من طعام الملائكِ

And if those senses submit to our intellect,

But if those senses submit to our mind

then they eat with it of the food of angels.

They will feast with it on the food of angels
