لا تدينوا لن تدانوا

بالرذائلْ والمناقصْ

بالرذائلْ والمناقصْ

Do not judge; you will not be judged

Judge not, lest ye be judged

for vices and shortcomings.

By vices and shortcomings

من يَدِن يسقطْ قصاصاً

من يَدِن يسقطْ قصاصاً

عادلاً فالمرء ناقصْ

عادلاً فالمرء ناقصْ

Whoever judges falls under punishment

He who judges will fall short

that is just, for man is flawed.

Meeting justice, for man is flawed

نُطْ غِشا اللذّات تُبصرْ

نُطْ غِشا اللذّات تُبصرْ

ما بنفسكْ من نقائصْ

ما بنفسكْ من نقائصْ

Lift the veil of pleasures, and you will see

Pleasures blind the mind to see

what shortcomings lie within yourself.

What faults lie within thee

من يفكّرْ في ذنوبٍ

من يفكّرْ في ذنوبٍ

ساغها والعمر قالصْ

ساغها والعمر قالصْ

Whoever reflects on sins

He who thinks of sins he's done

he swallowed, while life dwindles,

And gone along with in life's run

يخترعْ نوحاً ودمعاً

يخترعْ نوحاً ودمعاً

فيهما مَن دان خالصْ

فيهما مَن دان خالصْ

will bring forth lamentation and tears;

Will make excuses and crocodile tears

through both, whoever has judged is cleansed.

Where the repentant show no fears

لا تَدِن من زلَّ حتى

لا تَدِن من زلَّ حتى

لو رأيت أخاك ناقصْ

لو رأيت أخاك ناقصْ

Do not judge one who has slipped, even

Judge not those who stray

if you see your brother flawed.

Though a sibling gone astray you survey

من يقيني من فخاخٍ

من يقيني من فخاخٍ

جئتها واِبليس قانصْ

جئتها واِبليس قانصْ

Who will protect me from snares

He who saves me from traps

I have come upon, while Iblis hunts?

That I came to though Satan laps

يا إلهي صن لساناً

يا إلهي صن لساناً

ليس توهيه النقائصْ

ليس توهيه النقائصْ

O my God, safeguard a tongue

My God guard my tongue

that shortcomings do not weaken.

Not to speak of others' wrongs
