سل أنتَ ذاتَك إن تودَّ حقيقةً

سل أنتَ ذاتَك إن تودَّ حقيقةً

تهديك علماً نحو غاية من سلكْ

تهديك علماً نحو غاية من سلكْ

Ask your own self if you desire a truth

Ask yourself truly if you wish

that guides you through knowledge toward the end of those who have journeyed.

To gain knowledge towards an aim you have embarked upon

فهُناكَ أسرٌ لا يُفَكُّ عِقابُه

فهُناكَ أسرٌ لا يُفَكُّ عِقابُه

وجهنّمٌ سجنٌ يواريه الحلكْ

وجهنّمٌ سجنٌ يواريه الحلكْ

For there is captivity whose punishment cannot be lifted,

For there lies a secret whose shackles cannot be undone

and Hell is a prison concealed by deep darkness.

And Hell is a prison veiled in darkness

سقياكَ حقّاً يا نقيّاً فاغتبط

سقياكَ حقّاً يا نقيّاً فاغتبط

بنعيم ربك حيث ساويتَ الملكْ

بنعيم ربك حيث ساويتَ الملكْ

May you be given drink indeed, O pure one; rejoice

I give you sincere drink, O you of pure soul, so rejoice

in your Lord’s bliss, where you have become the angel’s equal.

In the bliss of your Lord when you have equaled the angels
