وأحبابٍ لنا جاروا فجاروا

وأحبابٍ لنا جاروا فجاروا

حدود العدل فيما قد أذاعوا

حدود العدل فيما قد أذاعوا

And loved ones of ours acted unjustly, and so overstepped

And friends we had, went astray, astray

the bounds of justice in what they spread abroad.

Exceeding justice's bounds in all they say

فقلت وقد أباعوني رخيصاً

فقلت وقد أباعوني رخيصاً

أضاعوني وأي فتىً أضاعوا

أضاعوني وأي فتىً أضاعوا

So I said, when they had sold me cheaply:

So I said, selling me off cheap were they

They squandered me—and what a young man they squandered!

Astray they led me, and what lad led not astray?
