You opened for them, until you loosened their fetters,
You opened for them till you unshackled their chains
the treasure-bridges of one who had amassed wealth before you.
Bridges of those who used to be impassable bridges before you

They are not like those the foreigners build, or the one shifted
And they are not like the bridges built by giants which turned
from the crossing by ships' hulls—the pitch-coated bridge.
The bodies of ships away from the bridge, always swerving

White ones of silver, and others with swaying loops—
Some white Lujiani and some yellow Heraclean
Heraclian, yellow, from Caesar's mint.
From the strikes of Caesar, inclining from side to side
تَناوَلتَyou accomplished ماwhat أَعياbaffled اِبنَthe son of حَربٍHarb وَقَبلَهُand before him

You accomplished what had baffled Ibn Harb, and before him,
You undertook what had confounded Ibn Harb before, and his father,
had baffled your resolute, chosen father;
The resolute, selective one, you undertook
وَماand what كانَhad قَدalready أَعياbaffled الوَليدَal-Walid وَبَعدَهُand after him

That which had confounded Al-Walid and after him
Sulayman, in freeing those who had spent ages among the Romans.
Suleiman, among those who were most capable in Rome

It had also baffled Abu Hafs; you broke off them
And Abu Hafs it confounded, so you broke for them
the riveted iron upon the shins of captives.
In the markets the iron shackles, all nailed

But for the one after whom no goodness remains among people—
For had it not been for the one in whom there is no good among people after him
through him God killed the one who had given tidings;
By him God killed the one who was a plotter
بِهِthrough him دَمَّرَdestroyed اللَهُGod المَزونَthe Mazun وَمَنand whoever سَعىhastened

through him God destroyed the Mazun and those who hastened
By him God destroyed the Mazons and whoever strove
to them, as He had destroyed the Pharaohs.
Towards them, as He destroyed the giants

And the people of earth were gathered by
by God's hand—and the ailing blind man gained sight—
God's hand, and the blind, sick one gained sight

To the best of the people of earth in mother, and their best
in father, brother, and ancestry, except for the Prophet.
In father and brother, except for the Prophet and his supporter

I shall praise the best of creation, and the one
I will praise the best of creation, by whom
whose rain-cloud rose over the people and poured down.
Upon people, the rain clouds poured forth rain

I see that God has sent mercy through your two palms
I see God place in your palms a mercy
upon the people: water gushing forth to fill the earth.
Upon people, filling the earth with water gushing forth

Reared by kings, amid inheritances where there has always been
A nursling of kings in inheritances which have not ceased
a king who, if he died, bequeathed a pulpit.
To have a king, that if one dies, he hands over the pulpit
بَنَيتَyou built الَّذيthat which أَحياbrought to life سُلَيمانَSulayman وَاِبنَهُand his son
وَداوُدَand Dawud وَالجِنَّand the jinn الَّذيwhom كانَhad سَخَّراsubjected
You built what brought Sulayman and his son to life,
You built that which gave life to Solomon and his son
and Dawud, and the jinn whom he had subjected.
And David and the jinn that were subjugated
فَأَصبَحَso it became جِسراًa bridge خالِداًenduring وَيَدُكُّهُand He will demolish it

Thus it became an enduring bridge, and He will demolish it
So it has become an eternal bridge, which when
when He demolishes a rampart holding back Ya'juj and raises the dead,
It pounds the barrier of Gog and Magog, makes it collapse
بِقُوَّتِهِby His might اللَهُGod الَّذيwho هُوَHe باعِثٌwill raise

by His might—God, who will raise
By His power, God, who is the Sender
servants of His from among His creation when He resurrects them.
Of His servants from His creation when He dispersed them
