مَنwho يُبلِغُwill convey الخِنزيرَthe swine عَنّيon my behalf رِسالَةًa message
مَن يُبلِغُ الخِنزيرَ عَنّي رِسالَةً
نُعَيمَNu'aym بنَson of صَفوانٍSafwan خَليعَoutcast of بَنيthe sons of سَعدِSa'd
نُعَيمَ بنَ صَفوانٍ خَليعَ بَني سَعدِ
Who will convey a message from me to the swine,
Nu'aym son of Safwan, outcast of Banu Sa'd?
فَماfor … not أَنتَyou بِالقاريa host فَتُرجىso might be hoped for قِراتُهُhis hospitality
فَما أَنتَ بِالقاري فَتُرجى قِراتُهُ
وَلاnor أَنتَyou إِذwhen لَمdid not تَقرِyou offer hospitality بِالفاسِقِa libertine الجَلدِhardy
وَلا أَنتَ إِذ لَم تَقرِ بِالفاسِقِ الجَلدِ
For you are no host whose hospitality might be hoped for,
Nor, when you offer no hospitality, are you a hardy libertine.
وَلَكِنَّbut حيرِيّاًa man of al-Hira أَصابَcame upon نَقيعَةًa feast
وَلَكِنَّ حيرِيّاً أَصابَ نَقيعَةً
فَزَعزَعَهاthen he shook it about فيin سابِرِيٍّfine Sabiri cloth وَفيand in بُردِa striped cloak
فَزَعزَعَها في سابِرِيٍّ وَفي بُردِ
But you are a man of al-Hira who came upon a feast,
Then shook it about inside fine Sabiri cloth and a striped cloak.
