When an evil man's countenance darkens, there shine forth

Virtues of ʿAlwān, their guide calling out.

He is the one in whose wealth refuge is sought from his hands,

And from his might, in a rock that none can dislodge—

No aggressor among men, nor one mighty in his station—

When its youths and mature men are turned back.

He builds with wealth and sword what costs dear,

When its palm trees rise on the day of al-Ḥabān.
